Walking into an outdoor store in search of a new sleeping bag can be overwhelming, even if you’re a seasoned camper. Between quilts, blankets, mummy bags, rectangular bags, and more, it can be tough to figure out what’s best. Whether you’re planning on driving to the trailhead and carrying everything with you, pulling into a campground, or curling up in the back of your truck for a good night’s sleep under the stars, ask yourself these questions to help you choose the right sleeping bag for you.

It is hard to say how many times I have seen the movie, "Dante's Peak" in the 18 years since its release. While a bit on the cheesy side, the one thing that keeps me going back is the modified Suburban equipped with what I have come to refer to as, the Lava Snorkel. Watching Pierce Brosnan fumble around to get the rig into 4-wheel-drive while already floating down the river is hilarious. He finally engages it, and the big red Sub emerges from the river unscathed and running like a champ because, "it’s okay... this rig has a snorkel".
Most would say Arizona is just a hot desert. You’ve been to the Grand Canyon and saw the big hole in the ground, but have you been to southern Arizona and witnessed the grandeur of the wide open ranges around the Patagonia Mountains and the San Rafael Valley? I got that chance when I was made aware of an Arizona FJ event called the AZFJ Monsoon Border Run. They run it every few years. It’s an all day adventure starting in Tuscon and stretching south to the Arizo-na/Mexico border and back up to Sierra Vista for dinner then completing a huge loop back to Tucson.
In Episode 31 of their Epic Drives series, the Motor Trend Channel took a 2016 Tacoma TRD Off-Road package through five of Utah's National Parks. During the journey host Arthur St. Antoine hung out with world-class mountain bikers, got soaked in a jet boat on the Colorado River, and of course took in epic vistas we all know & love throughout Utah. This video even includes a little off-road driving ;)
We had a long day of driving as we made our way to Ouray, CO. We had spent 3 days at the Grand Canyon South Rim and one night near Monument Valley. Our mini-convoy of three FJs from S. California rounded that final corner off the 550 highway into Ouray and I was excited. We had finally arrived at another FJ Summit, my 4th. We parked the FJs and walked into the vendor area, caught many familiar faces and exchanged greetings. Attendees were lining up for dinner at FJ Summit headquarters, Twin Peaks Lodge while others were browsing vendor booths. You could sense everyone was ready to hit some trails and make memories with new and old friends.
