Other Toyota based vehicles have had similar features for several years, but this is the first time Lexus has added off-road specific features to a new model.
If you opt for the Luxury grade 2020 GX-460, you can now add the Off-Road Package. This upgrade includes Multi-Terrain Monitor with Panoramic View Monitors that include driver & passenger cameras. The upgrade also includes a transmission cooler and fuel tank protector. Note that they don't specify that this is a 'skid plate'.
We've seen Crawl-Control available on several Toyota off-road models, so seeing it included as part of the Off-Road pagacke on the luxury Lexus GX-460 for 2020 is very interesting. Using one of five low-speed settings, it's easier for you to keep your eyes on the road while the truck automatically maintains a steady, safe pass on virtually any terrain.
Multi-Terrain Select is also included in this package for the 2020 GX. Simply choose your surface: loose rocks, mud and sand, mogules, etc, to let the GX regulate wheelspin. It's basically like A-TRAC on steroids, and will help you get out of just about any situation.
While the price for the Off-Road package hasn't been announced, we're sure it'll be a nice premium over the already luxury priced GX-460. Still, if this is the platform you choose to build, and you have the budget, it will definitely be the niceset off-road ride you can experience in a mid-sized SUV.
