Calling all East Coast Enthusiasts! (Or anyone that would love to visit Asheville, NC this fall)
Today Weekend & Day Passes for Overland Expo EAST went on sale. The first ever OX east of the Mississippi will happen October 3-5 at Taylor Ranch just outside Asheville, and promises to be another great event. If you've ever wanted to see what this overland stuff is all about, this is a great opportunity. For this event the Overland Expo team is adding a kids adventure area and a bushcraft skills area in addition to the 100+ vendors and very popular Camel Trophy Overland Skills area.
Weekend Passes provide access Friday-Sunday and are available for $55/person or $95/family. One day passes are available for Sunday only for $10/person or $15/family. Camping for the weekend is a separate fee of $35, which covers all 3 days.

When we purchased the Manley EXPLORE trailer last year, we intentionally kept it fairly stock. We wanted to get a feel for how the trailer would be used before doing any upgrades, since each use case is so different. Over the last few months we’ve pondered upgrade options (see the January 2014 issue), to decide how best to spend our time & money, hoping to modify the platform for our best long-term goals.
Today Toyota released pricing for the Tacoma and 4Runner TRD Pro Models, which will be available at Toyota dealers this fall. We’ve been waiting to see what the additional functionality and cosmetic upgrades would cost, now we have our answers. Pricing for the TRD Pro Tundra model will be announced soon.

This year we included several new articles (Family Activites & Animas Forks) along with the great maps you've come to expect in the event guide.
You can download this guide and bring it along the next time you visit the Ouray / Silverton / Telluride area, or collect them all!
Do you have great photos or an article idea for the 2015 guide? Get in touch & let us know your thoughts!
Our awesome contributor Stan Wright was at the FJ Summit represting the TLCA, and served as Black Bear Ambassador during one of the trail days.
He put together this excellent video of his time on the most iconic trail in the area.

Some of you may have seen the recent Top Gear (USA) episode that included a 2014 TTUE FJ Cruiser, the Overland Journal LR4, and an AEV Brute Jeep conversion. If not, you can watch it here. I'll wait.
Before I wrote this I watched the episode a few times, partly to capture a few screen shots, but mostly to make sure I really understand what was going on. Like most network television, Top Gear is simply entertainment. The hosts are nice enough guys, and they make us chuckle, but they're not necessarily experts when it comes to vehicles, espcially when it comes to off-road, 4x4, or overland vehicles. When keeping that fact in mind with this particular episode, it's actually quite entertaining.
But there is more.
If you've been reading our magazine for a while (remember when we just wrote about FJ Cruisers?), you may have seen a great article in our July 2012 issue on CB Radios from Right Channel Radios.
We just found out they've created a specific kit on their website, just for FJ Cruiser owners! This kit includes:
Starting at $209.95 (you can upgrade the antenna if you wish), it's a pretty good 'one stop' to get your FJC setup with a CB Radio.
After months of coding, testing, and moving content, Expedition Portal has launched a new website based on the popular blogging platform, Wordpress.
Jonathan & Bob are working Cruise Moab this week, and have started sending in some great shots of the event. Plenty more to come soon!
